College Admission Test (SAT/ACT)

• Who?
• Four-year college bound students
• Why?
• Required for admission to all 4-year institutions
  used as PART of the selection process
• Used to compare academic preparation and ability
  of college applicants
• Determine if students have the math, reading, and
  writing skills necessary to succeed in college
• When?
• Spring of your junior year and again in the fall
  of senior year

Whats on the PSAT?

• Two 25-minute Critical Reading sections. The 48
  questions include sentence completions and
  passage-based reading questions.
• Two 25-minute Math sections. The 38 questions
  include multiple choice and student-produced,
  grid-in responses.
• Math topics include numbers, operations,
  algebra and functions, geometry and measurement,
  data analysis, statistics, and probability.
• One 30-minute Writing Skills
• section. The 39 questions include
• identifying sentence errors, improving
• sentences, and improving paragraphs.

Registering for the PSAT

• Registration is from Wed. the 8th through Wed.
  the 15th, before and after school or during lunch
  at the Bookkeeping Office
• Registration is until available test seating is
  full, so register early!
• Cost is 17.50, cash or check.
• Checks payable to Snohomish
• High School.
• Registration fee is non-refundable.

Test Day!

• Saturday, October 18th in the PAC
• Doors open at 730. Testing will begin at
• 800, sharp. LATE ARRIVALS WILL NOT BE
  ADMITTED!
• Bring receipt of payment and picture I.D.
• Bring at least 2 sharpened, 2 pencils
• Bring a 4-function, scientific or graphing
  calculator if you choose. No questions require a
  calculator, but you may wish to have one.
  Calculators cannot be shared.
• The test will be over at about 1100 a.m. The
  test is timed, and you will not be allowed to
  leave early.
