Why are we doing School Workforce Census
  • We currently hold very little information on
    workforce members at individual level.
  • The information we do hold is out of date and in
    some cases inaccurate.
  • We aim to improve data collections by reducing
    the burdens on Schools and LAs and enhance the
    information we use to inform and monitor policy.

Data Requirements
  • Staff in scope
  • Staff in Primary schools, Secondary schools,
    Maintained Nursery schools, Special schools, CTCs
    and Academies Staff centrally employed by the
    authority
  • PRU staff by 2010 but possibly not in pilot
  • Staff not in scope
  • Independent schools, NMSS, 6th form colleges, FE
    establishments
  • Staff with Occasional service

Third Party involvement
  • Consultation with other Government Departments,
    TDA, GTC, LGA, NCSL etc.
  • Consultation with Unions WAMG etc.
  • Involved meetings and consultation with software
    suppliers, including regular KITs and individual
    one to one meetings.
  • Consult and present to Employers Organisation
    Regional Personnel Officers Group.

required for all types of staff Contract Pay
data varies according to staff type and census
term. Please see specification for full details.
