Remember that the internet has put you in contact
with others, whose culture, language, and humor
are different from what you are used to.
6
We must be sensitive to those on the other end
and remember that they are people with feelings
sitting behind that computer screen.
7
Yes, our life has a code of conduct.  It extends
into all of our relationships.
8

We must respect the rights of others at all times.

Here are some important rules of netiquette
  • Never use curse words, slander, or write in all
    CAPS.
  • Do not make offensive comments about others. You
would not want others to make offensive comments
    about you.

12
  • Do not give out other individuals screen names
unless they have given you permission to do so.
  • Respect their privacy the same way you expect
    everyone else to respect yours.

13
  • Be proud of who you are as an individual. Do not
hide behind a computer screen. Do not
    misrepresent yourself to others.
  • Always let Buddies on the other end know if there
are other people reading or participating in your
    conversation.

14
  • Do not use someone elses screen name. You would
not want to have someone else use yours.
  • Rememberrespect others and they will respect you!

15
  • One must use indicator of sarcasm and/or humor
after making like comments, i.e. Smiley Face or
    equally appropriate laugh symbols.
  • It is easy to misinterpret what someone else is
saying without being able to look at their face.

16
  • Do not communincate with individuals you do not
    know.
  • Let your parents know if a conversation or email
    makes you feel uncomfortable.
  • Do not arrange to meet with someone you meet over
the Internet without first talking to your
    parents.

17
  •  Be aware that all information in an IM
conversation has the ability to be saved, pasted
and/or forwarded to at least 237 of the IM
    partner's closest friends.
  • Do not type anything you are not ready for
    everyone to see.

18
Thou shalt not use a computer to harm other
people thou shalt not snoop around in other
people's computer files and, thou shalt not use
a computer to steal.
