2Leadership Qualifications
- An Awana leader must be
- Saved!
- Walking with the Lord.
- In compliance with all the requirements of
leadership in his or her local church. - Open to and desirous of spiritual growth.
3As an Approved Awana Leader I Commit Before the
Lord that I will Endeavor to
- Maintain a regular prayer life. Including Bible
reading, memorization, and meditation. - Pray for those under my care each day.
(Commander commits to pray for each Director,
Directors commit to pray for each of their
leaders, leaders commit to pray for each in their
handbook group.)
4As an Approved Awana Leader I Commit Before the
Lord that I will Endeavor to
- I will consider this as my "ministry unto the
Lord," not my "job at the church. - I will value the children in my handbook group.
They are "my kids." I recognize that I am the
most important person to them at club. I will
strive to speak to them about their relationship
with Jesus on a personal level.
5As an Approved Awana Leader I Commit Before the
Lord that I will Endeavor to
- I will call and welcome new members and visitors
to my handbook group the day after club, and all
those who were absent to let them know that I
missed them. (Although it not required, calling
each clubber in your group every week would be a
great encouragement to them.) - I will visit each of my handbook members twice
during the year.

call my Director if I must miss. - I will attend the Leadership Training Conference
in September unless unable to attend because of
work or other unchangeable events.

- I will attend the monthly Prayer and Planning
meetings. (Commanders and Directors meet
together and then Directors meet with their
secretaries and handbook leaders.) - I will wear the Awana Uniform as an encouragement
to the kids to wear theirs and to maintain an

- As a blouse or shirt, not as a jacket
- Buttoned
- With proper patches
- Including BT awards
- As an example

- Gray uniform more effective in promoting order
and structure. More durable and more room to
display awards.
- Red or Green polo shirt with the club logo and
Awana woven into the cuffs. More comfortable. - Yellow polo shirt for commander, directors,
and/or secretary.

- BT Patch for casual shirt.

- Pins displayed on BT bar or collar or award strip
of casual shirt. - Patches displayed on sleeves
17Awards Display for Leaders Uniforms
- BT bar can be for either gray or casual uniforms.
- The embroidered strip on casual shirt can be used
for individual pin display or be covered by the
BT bar. - BT patch can be worn on left front of casual
shirt other pins displayed on collar.
