Title: Logistics Transformation Leadership Goals

1
Progressive Integrated Logistics Support Ready
Response (PIR2)
Distance Support
2
PIR2 Overview
  • Identify systems, equipment, and parts
responsible for maintenance and supply support
    difficulties
  • Provide data from several maintenance reporting
    and supply support databases
  • Utilize a fully automated/standardized evaluation
    technique
  • Perform analysis on a quarterly basis
  • Make results available to Navy maintenance,
    logistics, and operational forces

3
PIR2 Process
  • Collect data from several maintenance reporting
    and supply support databases
  • Evaluate the data through a series of algorithms
to produce a numeric score for each item
  • The score represents an items relative
importance to fleet maintenance and supply
    support efforts
  • Logistically link items to their APL, EIC, ESWBS,
    and Work Center relationships
  • Produce a prioritized list of shipboard equipment
and components associated with maintenance and
    supply support difficulties

Data Collection
  • Collect 14 maintenance reporting and supply
support elements from numerous data sources

PIR2 Website
  • PIR2 web site is written in ASP.net
  • PIR2 data resides on a Oracle 9i database
  • Web site is hosted by Aeptec Microsystems, Inc.
  • Web development is in Blairsville, PA
  • Production web site is located at a Defense
Security Service (DSS) cleared facility in
    Rockville, MD
  • Users are limited to Department of Defense (DoD)
Employees and DoD contractor personnel whose job
    requires them to have access

System Capabilities
  • PIR2 is a collection of servers which process
tailored subsets of data from numerous databases
    into scored and ranked data
  • Data is collected in a processing server where it
is scored and ranked in an Oracle 9i database
  • The results are presented in an optimized
database via an Internet Information Server (IIS)
    5.0 web server
  • The overall architecture requires a processing
server, a database server, and a web server

Naval Sea Logistics Center
11
System Capabilities
  • The processing server receives the data, joins
the data for scoring and produces the scoring
    tables
  • Scored and ranked tables are transferred to a
presentation database server, where the score
tables are joined, indexed and optimized for
quick access by the web server
  • The web server is the single access point for
users to the data views, and allows a view-only,
controlled access to the data through one
encrypted Secure Socket Layer (SSL) port in
    system firewall
