Research Paper Requirements

• Minimum 5 pages long, typed, double spaced
• Minimum 5 resources used must be varied and only
  1 encyclopedia resource allowed
• All Research papers will follow the MLA format!

Format

• All Research Papers will have a title page
• All Research Papers will have a Works Cited
  formatted according to the MLA guide
• All Research papers will use parenthetical
  citations in the body of the paper when
  attributing.
• All Research Papers will have a thesis statement

Style

• All Research Papers will begin with a thesis
  statement.
• Body of the paper will prove the thesis statement
• The conclusion of the paper will mirror the
  thesis statement.
• Text will be written in the active voice.
  Unnecessary words will be eliminated strive for
  an economy of words!
• All papers will be checked for spelling and
  grammar prior to submission.

Dont Forget Attribution!

• You must attribute material you have borrowed,
  including quotes, ideas, graphics!
• You must provide attribution in the body of the
  paper where you have inserted the borrowed
  material
• There should be at least 3-5 parenthetical
  citations on each page.

Other Elements of Style

• Dont use I language This is your paper, so it
  is assumed that the opinions expressed are your
  own!
• Use a variety of words in your paper a thesaurus
  will help!
• Make your paper interesting to read!

What You Turn in to Mr. O

• On the due date turn in the following in a large
  manila folder
• your research paper
• notecards (50)
• bib cards (5)
• printouts of web resources used (or a floppy of
  the same)
