• Teach the test as another genre with its own set
  of rules, elements of craft, purpose and audience
• Students read sample tests prompts and
  responses

• Think about 3-4 things you know a lot about
• Choose one of those topics, turn to your partner
  and talk for 1 minute about your topic
• Begin to write about a personal experience
  (memoir) that relates to your topic
