First Body Paragraph Outline
  • A. State the topic of the paragraph
  • 1. First detail, first example, quote, fact
  • A. Explain the quote, fact, detail
  • B. Explain how you feel about it, why it is
    important to your essays main point
  • B. Restate the main point of your paragraph in
    different words. This last sentence will sum up
    what you have proven in this Paragraph.

Conclusion Paragraph
  • A. Restate in new words, your main point of the
    essay
  • B. Explain each of the body paragraphs findings
  • C. Explain the significance of your essay.
  • This may be four to six sentences long.

  • Each paragraph has its own main point
  • The essay uses all of these main points to show
    your position on the topic.
  • Your thesis will be a mini-outline for the entire
    paper. It will indicate your overall position,
    and the three main reasons why you feel that way.
