• Elimination of Second Economy through
• Expansion of Expanded Public Works Programme
  bigger rural road projects focus on maintenance
  roll out of Early Childhood Development component
• Strengthening of microfinance initiatives
  especially loans between R10 000 and R250 000

Joint Initiative for Priority Skills Acquisition
(JIPSA)

• Established in March 2006 (Lifespan 18mths)
• Technical Team (representation of Business,
  Academia and government)
• Aim To coordinate and ensure that South Africa
  has the needed skills for accelerated growth in
  the country

What is Skills Acquisition and Placement
Programme (SAPP)?

• Implementation Arm of JIPSA Technical Team
• Address the Unemployed
• graduates
• Ungraduated Technikon graduates
• Inexperienced Professionals
• Matriculants
• 2. Address gaps between Institutions of Higher
  learning and Corporate needs

• Placement of candidates with Corporates here and
  abroad
• Coordination of government departments training
  efforts
• Elimination of the unemployed Umsobomvu database
• Coordination of donor funding nationally
• Input towards JIPSA research

  multinationals on a cost sharing basis
• -Training durations of 6-12 months
• -Employment opportunities for some candidates

• Will interface the databases into a melting pot
• Exploring a Job Search hub for graduates
