  • UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand
  • Only Australia and NZ available both summer and
    winter
  • All other programs winter only

  • Eula students have to go to university
  • Other students university, PAD assistant
    teacher scheme, Erasmus work experience
  • Most university places do not include teaching
    practice
  • University places limited flexibility needed

PAD Assistant Teacher scheme
  • Pädagogische Austauschdienst Assistant teacher in
    UK, Ireland or Canada - http//www.kmk-pad.org
  • Places outside UK limited good idea to mention
    any twinning organisations
  • Need to have done 4 semesters before going
  • Deadline very soon (15 Nov/1 Dec contact
    lebfromm_at_ph-freiburg.de)?
  • Normally runs September to June/July and pays
    about 1,000 euros per month
  • Experience in school not with other students
  • Lauren Lewis can advise about interview in office

Erasmus work experience
  • 3 places at schools in the UKsecondary school
    Sept March,primary schools Feb July
  • Can find own placement if prefer does not have
    to be in a school
  • Erasmus pays approx 250 euros per month
  • Accommodation help offered, but responsibility
    lies with applicant

UK/Ireland funding for university
  • Erasmus places for students without Bafög see
    list below
  • Erasmus provides approx 100 euros per month and
    you do not have to pay fees

Bafög and Auslandsbafög
  • Bafög pays fees abroad and slightly more than
    usual home allowance
  • Even if you do not get Bafög you may still be
    eligible for Auslandsbafög - see
    http//www.auslandsbafoeg.de
  • Auslandsbafög does not have to be repaid ? and
    pays travel costs
  • Must apply at least 6 months in advance (ask for
    up-front payment so you get money early enough to
    pay fees)?
  • Cannot apply for Auslandsbafög until you know
    which university you are going to

  • Can apply to this in addition to other

  • Apply by 1 March (check website above to
    confirm!)?
  • AAA info session in January see AAA website or

Selection Process
  • PH staff read your application
  • Short-listed candidates interviewed by PH staff
    in December or January (notified by e-mail)?
  • Successful applicants will be notified after all
    interviews complete, at latest by end of semester
  • Those gaining Erasums places will be called to a
    compulsory meeting with Frau Kreml from AAA (see
    noticeboard)?
