Pacific - Ancient city of Machu Picchu is a mountain top
city built by ancient Incas in the 1400s. This
is in the Andes in Peru - Many people live today as their ancestors did
not unusual to see a pack train of llamas being
driven across a valley in the Andes - Lake Titicaca they still use reeds to build boats
and houses and some live on small islands in the
lake - Rio de Janero one of the most beautiful cities
no longer the capital because they wanted to
encourage people to move inland. Most of the
people in South America live on the coasts while
the inland areas remain a wilderness. This makes
for some of the worlds larges cities

in the Western Hemisphere - Uruguay has mostly people of European descent.

Brazil (Portuguese) and Paraguay (Spanish and
Guarani) - Sao Paulo largest city on the continent and has
worlds largest stadium it is the center of
industry in South America - Ecuador means equator in Spanish
- Venezuela named after Venice, Italy
- Brazil dominates the continent in land area
southern area has moderate climate, which makes
it popular - Soccer is the favorite sport of most of these
countries
