The Country

• Cambodia is still recovering from years of the
  Khymer Rouge regime
• High levels of poverty, malnutrition and
  illiteracy
• Cambodia and Thailand both recognised as hubs for
  child trafficking and sex tourism
• People visit Cambodia to buy or abduct children
• Girls as young as five are trafficked over the
  border to Thailand

The Partner

• The Cambodian Hope Organisation (CHO)
• Based in Poipet, close to the Thai border
• Works with vulnerable women and children
• 20 staff and 35 volunteers

Bringing Hope

• Raise awareness of trafficking among teachers and
  community leaders
• Counsel and pray with women and children who have
  been trafficked
• Women and children are taught how to use sewing
  machines
• They are taught book-keeping and marketing skills
• They are given loans to help them set up a
  business

• CHO provide women and children with a means of
  earning an income which isnt reliant on the sex
  industry. They are able to set up sustainable
  businesses which protects them from the desperate
  circumstances which lead to being trafficked.
• Underlying all of this, CHO teach people about
  the love of Christ.

Sokhas Story

• Sokha and her sister were sold into slavery aged
  14 and 15
• They needed to earn money to pay for their
  mothers medical treatment
• Began picking fruit but were then forced to sleep
  with the men they were working for
• Rescued from prostitution by CHO
• Now hope to set up a sewing business and employ
  girls in similar situations

• Its good to be home. We are grateful to CHO
  who have brought us back to our home, provided us
  with counselling, taught us the skill of sewing
  and brought us into the church.
