Audio accommodations cont.
  • Proctors must verify which students will have
    audio tests prior to testing.
  • See handout examples of audio tickets and
    rosters.
  • Proctors must verify that the computer the audio
student will be using has been prepared to
    deliver audio.

8
Audio tickets
9
Audio cont.
  • Teachers/Proctors must confirm online audio is
available for those identified students and
students have the correct ticket PRIOR to
    testing.
  • OSBE will not allow a students test to be reset
if audio was not made available or if the
    incorrect ticket was used.

10
Test Security
  • Test Security guidelines Test Coordinators
Guide to State and Federal Assessments
  • http//www.boardofed.idaho.gov/saa/documents/TC_Up
    dates/2008/TC_GuidewithISAT_rev-0109.pdf
  • All Administrators, Teachers (who have students
being tested) and Proctors must complete the Test
Security Agreement prior to each administration.
  • Completed agreements must be sent to be Heather
Marshall and filed in district office for 2
    years.

11
Test Security Cont.
  • All Test Session Tickets, Math Reference Sheets,
periodic tables, and scratch paper are secure
materials and must be collected after testing is
    completed.
  • Test Session Tickets are to be distributed in the
lab and collected from students prior to them
    leaving the lab.
  • Math Reference Sheets and Periodic Tables (grade
10 only) can be provided in the lab. Students
may NOT bring their own copy into the lab and may
NOT leave the lab with a copy.
  • Scratch paper and pencil or white boards and
markers can be used during testing.
  • Nothing can enter the testing environment with
the student or leave with the student.
  • Except a book to read

12
Test Environment
  • Please walk the walls of the test environment to
ensure that nothing will provide information that
    students can use during testing.
  • i.e., math equations, proof reading marks,
    grammar prompts, writing process, etc.

13
Before Testing
  • Review the test administration manual, especially
the directions that you will be reading to
    students.

14
Before testing, cont.
  • All grade 3 or new students must be shown the
tutorial and/or work through a portion of a
practice test prior to their first ISAT test.
  • All audio students must work through a portion of
a practice test using the audio function prior to
    their first ISAT test.

15
Test procedures
  • Test tickets are secure items.
  • Review with students prior to the test how these
    will be handled.
  • NCLB (part 1) allows students to answer questions
    in any order.
  • Math is the exception. There will be items that
students cannot return to. These items will be
    shaded grey.
  • Extender (part 2) requires students to answer a
question before moving on. They can return to an
item and change their answer, but an answer must
    be selected to move on.
  • Math is the exception. There will be items that
students cannot return to. These items will be
    shaded grey.

16
Math NCLB portion
  • Students in grades 3 and 4 will not receive any
calculator items. They can move between items.
  • Students in grades 5-8 and 10 will receive some
calculator items and some non-calculator items.
  • Non-calculator items are presented first.
  • These must be answered prior to moving into the
    calculator items.
  • Students may not return to the non-calculator
    items

17
Math extender portion
  • There are limitations on returning to questions
  • For lower grades, students will not be able to go
    back to calculator items.
  • For upper grades, students will not be able to
    return to non-calculator items.

18
Test Administration (cont.)
  • Mathematics - limitations on returning to
    questions
  • When the student reaches the end of these
restricted areas they will see a similar warning
before they are able to go to the next question
  • At this point the student may choose to return to
the question for further review or move on to the
next question. Once the student moves on to the
next question the restricted question is no
longer available for review. The restricted
question will be shaded gray in the status bar in
    the top left corner.

19
Reading
  • Students may select how they view reading items.
  • They can choose to see one question at a time,
all questions or no questions with the passage.
  • The default setting is to show one question at a
    time.

20
Prepare for Testing
  • Student Test Session Tickets
  • A Test Session Ticket is required for each part
    of a test
  • Part 1 NCLB
  • Part 2 Extender
  • Test Session Tickets are live, secure materials
and must be distributed and collected as such

21
Prepare for Testing (cont.)
  • Student Test Session Tickets
  • Students can move to Part 2 without using second
    ticket
  • The last page of Part 1 has option of continuing
into Part 2. If student clicks Continue, the
test will move into Part 2 (Extender) and the
student will not need the second ticket.
  • If student clicks Exit the Part will close and
the student will need the Part 2 Ticket to log
    into the Extender.
  • Have a plan!
  • DRC/OSBE recommendation Print both Part 1 and 2
tickets. Proctors should distribute ONLY Part 1
tickets to students, holding Part 2 until (if)
needed. (Assuming students will attempt to
complete NCLB and Extender sections at one time.)

22
Starting the test session
  • Students should know they are going to be taking
the ISAT when they enter the lab.
  • No cell phones, PDAs, or other electronic
devices are allowed in the test environment.
  • Students should bring a novel to read quietly
    when theyve finished the test.
  • NO other information or papers should go in or
    out of the lab.

23
Test Start-up
  • Do NOT under any circumstances log a student into
the test before they are physically sitting at
    that computer.
  • Students must check their ticket to ensure that
it is their ticketname, grade, content.
  • OSBE will not allow reactivation of tests for
students that start an incorrect test.
  • Read the directions provided by the State at the
    beginning of every test

24
Re-activation
  • All students must complete a test within one
school day. A test may be reactivated during the
school day by contacting Liz. (no OSBE approval
    needed).
  • Next day reactivation requires OSBE approval and
it will not be easy to acquire.
  • Basically, they will say no to all situations
    except power outages.

25
Test Administration (cont.)
  • Monitor Status and Reactivations
  • Students can log back in using same Test Session
Ticket within 90 minutes of initial login.
  • Fire Drill, emergency, power outage
  • All students must complete a test within one
school day. Under no circumstances should a test
be started unless there is enough time to
    complete it.
  • Additional time must be given as an extension of
the same testing period, not at a different time
(unless required by a students IEP).

26
Pausing tests
  • If a student leaves the computer lab/classroom
during a test, that student must be monitored by
an adult until the student returns to the lab to
    continue testing.

27
Ending the test
  • Review page
  • The final summary screen shows green check marks
for all items where an answer has been selected.
  • These check marks only mean that the item has
been answered. It does not indicate if the
    correct answer has been selected.

28
Score Reporting
  • The student will see a screen with the
preliminary score information. Retest will see it
after session 1, all others after session 2.
  • This page will show the students scale score
    only.
  • This page cannot be printed.

29
Test Environment
  • Prepare yourself
  • Prepare the room
  • Review the test administration manual
  • Become familiar with the directions for students.
  • Make sure there are sufficient test materials,
    scratch paper and pencils.
  • Know which students are to be tested and any
    accommodations needed.
  • Decide what to do with students who come late
finish the test early or cause a disruption.
  • Think positively about the testing experience.

30
Thank You
  • Thank you for all you do to ensure that students
have the best test environment and that testing
    runs smoothly in your building.
