Nucleus
  • Highly specialized organelle
  • In charge of information processing and
    administrative center of the cell.
  • Two major functions
  • it stores the cell's hereditary material, or DNA,
  • coordinates the cell's activities

9
Ribosome
  • Made of RNA
  • Found in two states in the cell
  • 2 main subunits
  • FUNCTION

10
  • Continuous membrane forming a network of sacs
  • The ER membrane allows molecules to be
selectively transferred between the lumen and the
    cytoplasm.

Peroxisome
  • Participates in the metabolism of fatty acids and
    other metabolites.
  • Peroxisomes have enzymes that get rid the of
    toxic peroxides.
  • They have a single lipid bilayer and contain
membrane proteins critical for various functions,
such as importing proteins into the organelles
    and aiding in proliferation.
  • Like lysosomes, peroxisomes are part of the
secretory pathway of a cell, but they are much
more dynamic and can replicate by enlarging and
    then dividing.
