Title: Building accoustics Outside
1Building accoustics Outside
- Passive noise protection
- 24. BImSchV
- (24 federal act for immission control)
Jochen Schaal
2Overview
- Indoor sound to the outside
- VDI 2571 for single values Li - R - 3 or Li - R
- 6 for caluculations with octaves - EN 12354-42000 (transmission of indoor sound to
the outside) The transmission is based on
different room properties (varies between 0 and 6
dB), how to treat openings in the surface. - Outdoor sound to the inside
- 24. BImSchV (Akustik 23) Based on facade values
and corrections for the noise type the indoor
values are calculated. Works with single values - EN 12354-32000 (airborne sound insulation
against outdoor sound)
3Overview
- Indoor noise calculation, room acoustics
- VDI 3760 adapted and improved to be used also in
rooms with not rectangular shape. Known
restrictions, such as room to room and screening
objects. - Ramsete capable to solve the sound propagation
problems in large enclosures, calculates
different noise levels and also impulse responses
values. - Inside (room to room)
- EN 12354-12000 (airborne sound insulation
between rooms) - EN 12354-22000 (impact sound insulation between
rooms)
424. BImSchV how dos it work?!
- Used in the process of road and railroad planning
and the noise reorganization - Based on single values, calculated or measured in
front of the open window - Depending on the noise source, different
correction factors are used to take the reduced
spectral transmission loss into account (similar
to the C and Ctr of the EN 12354) - Depending on the usage of the room different
maximum indoor noise levels are allowed - At each facade we can have a different outdoor
noise level - The goal is the definition of the transmission
loss of the windows to fulfill the maximum
allowed indoor noise level
5What is calculated?
- According to the original act the necessary
transmission loss RW,res. - RW,res Lr 10 lg Sg/A E - D (1)
- RW,res resulting transmission loss
- Lr assessment level
- Sg surface of wall seen from inside
- A equivalent absorption area (A 0.8 x base
area) - E Correction term for sound source (tram 3
dB, city streets 6 dB ) - D Correction term for use of room (sleeping
27 dB(A), office 47 dB(A) )
6What is the meaning?
- D lt S(Lr,i Ei RW,i,j 10 lg Sj) -10 lg
A (2) - D allowed interior level (sleeping 27
dB(A), office 47 dB(A) ) - Lr,i assessment level for facade i
- Ei Correction term for sound source (tram
3 dB, city streets 6 dB ) - RW,i,j transmission loss for component j on
facade i - A equivalent absorption area (A 0.8 x
base area right now fixed)
7For what another module?
- Only simple situations are able to handle within
the Expert Table. - Documentation is not very well possible with the
Expert Table. - You can do it with Excel, but
8 but
- you have to respect sometimes more than one
exterior level. - you prefer a visual interface to select your
levels. - you like a clear view over your project.
- you want a library for standard elements.
- you need to document your results as printout.

23Children 1
The indoor noise level exceeds the limit!
24Children 1
The problem is the window and the new ventilator.
We have to increase the transmission loss.
25Children 1
With the new transmission loss of 47 and 40 dB
the indoor noise level can be reduced to 27 dB.
26Painting tools
With the painting tools, lines areas and text can
be added.
