  • Melting scrap metal for ammo
  • Became law July 1988
  • Act 101 The Municipal Waste Planning, Recycling,

    the early 1970s.

The Recycling Process
Example GLASS

  • Transported to plant
  • Cut into small pieces
  • Separate out lids, labels, metals, etc.
  • Melted down and remolded.

Learn from example
  • Works in cooperation with Centre County Solid
    Waste Authority.
  • 2005- Penn State alone saved 4,868 tons of
    recyclable material from going into landfills.
  • Penn State recycled 794 tons of mixed office
    paper in 2005. This recycling process saved
    3,176,000 kwh.
