5After you transfer your photos to your hard drive
or flash drive choose one to open
Check the number of pixels and the percentage of
the picture that you are viewing
6Go to the Image Menu and choose Scale Image
7In the Scale Image window Choose inches instead
of pixels for Width
8As you see, a picture 3264 pixels wide is 45
inches wide! That isnt usable for web or print
9A web page or paper page is only about 8
wide Change the Width to 8 As long as the
links are connected, it will keep its aspect
ratio
72 is the perfect resolution for your web page or
printed material unless you are producing a
professional brochure
10Do not panic when your image scales down! You see
now the new number of pixels
But look at percentage of the picture you are
viewing You are still seeing the low
11Go to View and choose Zoom Then choose Fit Image
in Window
12It will depend how large your window is but you
see that you still have a good sized photo after
resizing!
13When you look at the details of each file you see
how much memory you use up with each picture.
In order to use your photos properly on the web
or in printed documents, you really need to do
this resizing. If you dont do this you will be
using up far more memory than necessary.
14You can add extra space to your photo for a
special text effect. Go to Image and choose
Canvas Size
15Unlink the chain to change just one
dimension Change pixels to inches so you have
a good idea what size the photo is
16Press Enter after you change the dimension
Move the picture to the side away from where you
want more space.
17Create a New Layer and move the original
Background layer above it. Fill with the dominant
Background color.
18Go to Image and choose Flatten Image to merge the
two layers
19Add your text in this extra area
