    stages
  • Where waste is produced, maximise opportunities
for everyone to re-use, recycle and recover value
    of the waste materials

8
Aims
  • To extract primary material resources only where
it can be shown that the need cannot be met in a
    more acceptable way
  • To dispose of unavoidable waste in the best
    possible way

9
Progress To Date
  • This is the 4th of 7 workshops

  • 14 resource stream groups
  • briefing papers produced
  • information available on
  • www.mrs-hampshire.co.uk

  • The Material Resources Strategy is a good
example of holistic thinking...it is exactly the
kind of innovative thinking that we want to
    encourage in Local Authorities

  • Gathered initial thoughts

26
Initial Thoughts
  • Used Experts to identify a benchmark
  • Waste streams produced
  • Current operations within the industry
  • Discussions with industry
  • Current industry performance
  • Possible Best Practices
  • Identified possible buttons that we could press

27
Resource Group Actions - 1
  • Meeting held 28th June - lively and conclusive
    discussions
  • Current operations scenario clearly defined -
    knowledgeable group members
  • Focussed in on Stretching Best Practice
    scenario

28
Resource Group Actions - 2
  • produced conclusions at meeting
  • paper produced
  • verified paper with members

29
Points of Note
  • effective co-ordination with other resource
    groups
  • further research
  • e.g. sustainability map

34
How is an Appraisal Done?
  • Identify the options
  • Develop the objectives
  • Gather supporting information
