In spring of this year (2005), almost 5,000
archivists and related professionals responded to
A Census, the unprecedented comprehensive survey
of the archival profession. Respondents who were
managers answered some special questions aimed at
ranking the relative importance of various
factors when hiring full-time archivists. There
were separate questions for hiring entry-level
archivists and mid-level or senior archivists.
The results are shown below.
