Pollution in Watershed
- TERRY BROWN
- EVAN MORRIS
- LORENZO MCLUCAS
- THOMAS PORTUARS
2CAMP OBJECTIVES
- First,we will learn how to use software like
Idrisi 32,3DEM,and Power Point.
- Then, we will use satellite images and various
programs to create a fly-by presentation. - The flyby will contain information on pollution
affecting the Hackensack river watershed and then
we will offer possible solutions.
3Composite With Boundary
- A composite is a combination of two or more
different images. - In this case, we have a composite of 3 satellite
images. - This composite has a boundary that shows the
watershed.
A watershed is a ridge of high land dividing two
areas that are drained by different river systems.

6Summary of the Histograms
- In the Histogram with no stretch the pixels are
bunched together. - In the Histogram with stretch the pixels are
spread out.

8Industrial land use class only
Land with a slope of or greater than 5
Slopes less than 5 Slope greater than 5
Other land uses Industrial land use
9Slope, industry, and water combined
- In the image
- Green represents other land uses
- Red is the industrial area.
- Blue is the
- water.
103D Image of problem area
- This 3D image shows our problem area.
- As you can see, the industry (red) is on a very
high slope which is also very close to the
Hackensack River.
- The red represents industrial areas, the green
represents areas of no concern, and the blue
represents water.

14UNKNOWNS CONCLUSION
In the previous thirteen slides we have showed
how industries on a slope of 5 or greater can
produce polluted run-off in our water supply.
Some suggestion are listed below.
- BUFFER ZONEBarrier between industry and the
water - ZONING RESTRICTIONS Restrictions on building
industry near water - SEWAGE SYSTEM To catch runoff that could pollute
the river
15THANK YOU FOR WATCHING OUR PRESENTATION
We really enjoyed this camp because we got to
learn about our water problem and how to fix it.
