• Complementary to the FHWA Pooled Fund Safety

• Develop Accident Modification Factors for
  selected strategies from Volume 12 of NCHRP
  Report 500 (strategies at signalized
  intersections)
• Focus on tried and experimental
• Before-after safety effectiveness evaluations
• Likely to evaluate 4-5 treatments

Future Tasks

• Select possible strategies/treatments
• Develop work plan and interim report (Aug 2007)
• Meet with NCHRP Panel (Sep/Oct 2007)
• After Panels approval, start compiling data for
  evaluating the selected treatments
• Project is scheduled to end October 31, 2009
