  • You will have completed a presidential campaign
    when you are done that follows the scoring guide
    you will be given.

  • You can tie the lesson into how presidents are
    elected now.

Candidate
  • One person in the group will be the candidate.
    Your job is to research the person you are
    assigned, and use this information to write a
    speech that reflects your stand on the issues of
    the 1820s.
  • Your speech should last approximately two minutes.

Campaign Manager
  • The campaign manager is to make sure everyone is
    doing their job, think of ways to make your
    candidate look good, and make the other
    candidates look bad.
  • If you are assigned the election of 1824, you
    must do this WITHOUT mudslinging.
  • In other words you must stick to the truth.
  • If you have the election of 1828, sling away with
    the mud, but only use historically accurate
    tricks.

Campaign Artist
  • It is your job to create a campaign poster that
    helps your candidate.
  • If your election is 1824, your poster should
    describe the good qualities of your candidate.
  • If you have 1828 you may choose to tear down your
    opponent and make him look bad. STICK WITH
    METHODS USED IN 1828!

Slogan Writer/Campaign Song
  • This persons job is to come up with a campaign
    slogan and a tune that helps your candidate.
  • If you have 1828 it can make fun of your
    opponent.
  • The song needs to be at least 45 seconds long.

Commercial Writer
  • You are to write a script for a 30-60 second
    campaign commercial that helps your candidate.
  • If you have the election of 1828 you may choose
    to go negative with you ad.
  • Be prepared to perform your commercial.

  • Work hard, but try to have fun with it also. Be
    creative!
