What is sensing, monitoring and data logging?

• Sensing is using sensors to show changes in the
  environment
• Monitoring is keeping a record of measurements
  from sensors
• Data logging includes monitoring, but can also
  mean collecting data automatically away from (or
  remote from) the computer with a data logger

Why use a computer?

• A computer display is easy to read
• It shows changes instantly
• It shows results in a variety of ways
• Collecting the data is automatic

The Software

WorkroomHere you will find lots of experiments
TableLaunches the graph in snapshot mode. It
captures a measurement from the sensors each time
the mouse is clicked
GraphThe graph records data from the sensors for
a set period of time. You can also pause the
graph whilst the data is still being recorded so
you can predict what will happen next!
