Title: IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN HEAVEN
1IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN IN HEAVEN?
2Do You Believe That
You Are Going to Heaven?
- The majority of Americans believe in life after
death. - The majority of Americans also believe in Heaven
and that they will go there. - Do you believe that YOU are going to Heaven?
3- How can anyone know for sure that he/ she will
one day be a Citizen of Heaven,
be included
among the saved, for all
eternity!?!
4The Book of Life
Names That Are Written in Heaven.
- Only those people whose names are written in
the Book of Life will be in Heaven.
5Revelation 2122-24 (NASB)
- 22 And I saw no temple in it (i.e., - the
heavenly city ML), for the Lord God, the
Almighty, and the Lamb, are its temple. 23 And
the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to
shine upon it, for the glory of God has illumined
it, and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 And the nations
shall walk by its light, and the kings of the
earth shall bring their glory into it
6Revelation 2125-27 (NASB)
- 25 And in the daytime (for there shall be no
night there) its gates shall never be closed 26
and they shall bring the glory and the honor of
the nations into it 27 and nothing unclean and
no one who practices abomination and lying, shall
ever come into it, but only those whose names are
written in the Lamb's book of life. - Note Lamb Christ (John 129 1 Pet. 119
Rev. 5).
7The Book of Life Names That Are Written in
Heaven.
- If one truly desires to enter Heaven, then their
name must be written in the book of life. - No one shall ever come into the holy city of God,
but those who have their names written in the
Book of Life. - Anyone who does not have their name written in
the Book of Life on that last day will not go
to Heaven. - Rev 2015 (NASB) And if anyone's name was not
found written in the book of life, he was thrown
into the lake of fire.
8The Book of Life Names That Are Written in
Heaven.
- From the foundation of the world (Rev. 138), God
has written a book that contains the names of
those who will go to Heaven. - Even Moses understood that God had written a book
that contained the record of all who would gain
Eternal Life
9Exodus 3231-33 (NASB)
- 31 Then Moses returned to the LORD, and said,
"Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and
they have made a god of gold for themselves. 32
But now, if Thou wilt, forgive their sin and
if not, please blot me out from Thy book which
Thou hast written! 33 And the LORD said to Moses,
"Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him
out of My book.
10Only the names of the righteous can be in the
Book of Life.
- In ancient times, the names of citizens of the
state were written in a book or register as a way
to secure all the privileges of citizenship. - Similarly, God holds a register or record of
names of those whose citizenship is in heaven
(Phil. 320).
11Only those who are right with God have their
names written in the Book of Life.
- Psalm 6928 (NASB) May they be blotted out of
the book of life, And may they not be recorded
with the righteous. - Exodus 3233 (NASB) And the LORD said to Moses,
"Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him
out of My book. (cf. Ezek. 1820).
12How Is it Even Possible to Have Our Names Written
in Heaven?
- If only the righteous are enrolled in Heaven (Ps.
6928), how is it possible for anyone to go to
Heaven? - Romans 310, 23 (NASB) 10 as it is written,
"There is none righteous, not even one...
23 for all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God, - Heaven begins where sin ends.
-- Thomas Adams (1612-1653)
13Despite popular belief, good morality alone will
save no one!
- 54 of Americans believe that they will earn a
place in Heaven! - Yet, even Cornelius, a devout man and one who
feared God with all his household, who gave alms
generously to the people, and prayed to God
always (Acts 102) was not righteous before God
and needed deliverance (Acts 1048 cf. Acts
238).
14Thankfully, Jesus, the Son of God made Eternal
Life in Heaven possible!
- Romans 623 (NASB) For the wages of sin is
death, but the free gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord.
15Jesus bridged the gap whereby He made
fellowship with God possible through His atoning
blood as given on the cross!
- Colossians 119-20a (NASB) 19 For it was the
Father's good pleasure for all the fulness to
dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile all
things to Himself, having made peace through the
blood of His cross... - Ephesians 17 (NASB) In Him we have redemption
through His blood, the forgiveness of our
trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,
- Ephesians 218 (NASB) for through Him we both
have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
16Jesus Has Prepared the Way for Us
to Enter Heaven!
- John 141-2, 6 (KJV) Let not your heart be
troubled ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions if it
were not so, I would have told you. I go to
prepare a place for you... 6 Jesus saith unto
him, I am the way, the truth, and the life no
man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - Only through Jesus can anyone have his or her
name written in Heaven!
17Heaven is a place prepared only for those who are
prepared for it.
- Matthew 721 (NASB) "Not everyone who says to
Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of
heaven but he who does the will of My Father who
is in heaven.
18How Your Name May Be Written in
Heaven!
- Beyond belief in Jesus (John 141-2), a person
must obey the Gospel to be saved. - Belief in Jesus alone is not sufficient for
salvation (e.g., John 1242-43 James 214-26). - A person must act on their faith in Jesus by
obeying the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
19How Your Name May Be Written in
Heaven!
- Only by obeying the Gospel may a person receive
the forgiveness of sins. - Acts 238 (NKJV) Then Peter said to them,
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in
the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of
sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy
Spirit.
20How Your Name May Be Written in
Heaven!
- Obeying the Gospel is the only way a person can
be added to the Lords church. - Acts 241, 47b (NKJV) 41 Then those who gladly
received his word were baptized and that day
about three thousand souls were added to them...
47 ... And the Lord added to the church daily
those who were being saved. - 1 Cor 1213 (NKJV) 13 For by one Spirit we were
all baptized into one body whether Jews or
Greeks, whether slaves or free and have all
been made to drink into one Spirit. (cf. Col.
118)
21How Your Name May Be Written in
Heaven!
- Only the names of those who belong to the Lords
church are written in Heaven. - Heb 1222-23a (KJV) 22 But ye are come unto
mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God,
the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable
company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and
church of the firstborn, which are written in
heaven...
22There is No Assurance of
Eternal Salvation in Heaven
Outside the Church!
- No one who has not obeyed the gospel to be added
to the church has his/ her name written in
Heaven No one! - Only the names of Christians are written in the
Book of Life or enrolled in Heaven (Phil.
41-3).
23How to Keep Your Name Written in Heaven in the
Book of Life.
- No one should take for granted that his / her
name is written in Heaven, even after obeying the
Gospel to become a Christian. - The moment we take it for granted is the moment
we start to become indifferent to our spiritual
growth and begin to neglect the work of God. - This will then cause God to BLOT our name from
the Book of Life!
24Revelation 31-3 (NKJV)
- 1 "And to the angel of the church in Sardis
write, 'These things says He who has the seven
Spirits of God and the seven stars "I know your
works, that you have a name that you are alive,
but you are dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen
the things which remain, that are ready to die,
for I have not found your works perfect before
God. 3 Remember
therefore how you have received and heard hold
fast and repent. Therefore if you will not watch,
I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not
know what hour I will come upon you
25Revelation 34-5 (NKJV)
- 4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have
not defiled their garments and they shall walk
with Me in white, for they are worthy. 5 He who
overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and
I will not blot out his name from the Book of
Life but I will confess his name before My
Father and before His angels.
26To Remain in Gods Book of Life
- We must be all the more diligent to make certain
about His calling and choosing us so our
entrance into the eternal kingdom will be given
(2 Pet. 110-11). - Our works of faith and worship offered unto God
must be diligently given, with joy, zeal,
enthusiasm, love, and 100 commitment for the
Lord! - If a person does not enjoy the worship and
services of the Lord, he no doubt would be out of
place in heaven. -- A. G. Hobbs, Jr.
27The Best Blessing of All is to Have Ones Name
Written in Heaven!
- Greater than any other gift that could be given
by God is to have ones name written in Heaven!
28Luke 1017-20 (NKJV)
- 17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying,
"Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your
name." 18 And He said to them, "I saw Satan fall
like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give
you the authority to trample on serpents and
scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy,
and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this,
that the spirits are subject to you, but rather
rejoice because your names are written in
heaven."
29The Best Blessing of All is to Have Ones Name
Written in Heaven!
- To have your name written in Heaven is worth more
than earthly wealth or all the riches of the
world! (Mat. 619-21).
30Matthew 619-21 (NASB)
- 19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon
earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where
thieves break in and steal. 20 "But lay up for
yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not
break in or steal 21 for where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.
31How Much Does Heaven Mean to You?
- I would not give one moment of Heaven for all
the joys and riches of the world, even if it
lasted for thousands and thousands of years. --
Martin Luther (1483-1546) - Mat. 1345-46 (NASB) 45 "Again, the kingdom of
heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46
and upon finding one pearl of great value, he
went and sold all that he had, and bought it. - What are you willing to do to get your name
written in Heaven?
32- On Judgment Day, Will
Your Name Be Found
Written in Heaven?
