2What is the Transport Training Initiative?
- TTi is a network that aims at improving human
capacities in the transport sector of Developing
Countries. - The idea is to train transport experts in their
motherland using national and international
training institutes, teachers and appropriate
curricula. - TTi generates and conducts own projects.
- The main focus is sustainable transport.
3Main Challenges
- Lack of skilled personnel in administration and
private sector, - Training institutions missing or operating on low
level, - Brain drain of skilled experts,
- Inadequate career entry after university.
4Main TTi Activities
- Review and improvement of transport training
curricula at training institutes, - implementation of training programs and modules,
- exchange programs for lecturers and students,
- internships and trainee programs,
- training near the job or on the job,
- targeted, problem-solving research programs and
- international cooperation and networking.
5Network Members
- Northern and southern training institutions,
- Private companies working in the field of
transport in Developing and Industrialised
Countries, - Public and private donors,
- Public administrations in developing and
industrialised countries, - NGOs and interested private persons.
6A Demand Driven Approach
- TTi develops demand-driven projects in the South.
- Members are invited to formulate their ideas on
transport training. - The TTi Secretariat picks up the ideas and
supports the members in fund-raising and
developing projects.
7The Secretariat
- Support of programs initiated by the network
members, - development of program concepts, design and
bidding documents in cooperation with the members
involved, - fund raising for program activities,
- scientific and organisational support for
implementation of programs, - ME, quality control, reporting back to donors,
- provision of key inputs and consultant
recruitment, - establish individual contacts between members,
- facilitate information exchange between network
members and - development of standard training packages.
