SSB has allowed me to experience the ultimate
accounting career. As a YSU senior, I met Greg
Bestic at the Accounting Fair and suggested he
look into participating in the YSU accounting
internship program. After an exciting first tax
season, SSB allowed me to develop my professional
skills and grow personally as I progressed
through supervisor and manager positions to
ultimately become a partner with this dynamic
organization. SSB continues to provide me
opportunities for personal and professional
growth within a framework that provides quality
services, great team members and, most
importantly, an understanding that family takes a
major role in our lives.

My family is the most important part of my life.
When my sons were born, everyone would always
say take advantage of any time you can spend
with them because they grow up so fast. They do
grow too fast, but SSB has allowed me to spend
more time with them than I had ever hoped. At
SSB, we believe that our quality of life is very
important. We all have responsibilities to
uphold in our job, but with the flexibility of
our schedules responsibilities at home can be
managed as well. I also appreciate that we
approach any project as a team, and we work
together and help each other all the way to the
end. The quality product that we put out is a
direct reflection on the quality people we have
at SSB.

In addition to being a high quality firm, SSB is
all about teamwork and family. Everyone at SSB
truly cares about everyone else and will lend a
hand to help whenever possible whether it is a
personal or professional matter. By providing
educational courses, an internal mentoring
program and encouragement to participate in
outside activities, the firm has enabled me to
grow from a Team Accountant to a Manager. The
firms flexible hours have also provided me with
the ability to balance both my professional and
personal lives. Nine years ago I made a decision
to work at SSB and I truly believe that it was
the best decision that I have ever made, because
I have grown more in my career at SSB than I ever
had at my previous places of employment.

Prior to my becoming a CPA, I was familiar with
SSB through different community organizations. I
was always impressed with the professionalism and
friendliness of everyone I had met from the firm,
so when I started looking for employment with a
public accounting firm SSB was my first choice.
The firm has far surpassed my original
impression. Repeatedly, SSB has illustrated the
firms dedication to staff and clients, providing

ownership status exist for those interested in
promotion. For those team members not seeking an
ownership role, SSB offers many challenges
through exposure to a variety of service areas
and consulting engagements.

What about the working environment at SSB?
First, we have fun! We want our team to enjoy
coming to work. SSB promotes teamwork, courtesy
toward fellow members, loyalty to the firm and
respect for peers and clients. Teamwork leads to
a more dynamic and productive work environment.
At SSB, teams function in a variety of roles on a
daily basis to help our clients meet specific

Is there diversity in the work that SSB team
members perform?
Very much so! Plenty of opportunities exist for
team members to pursue their interests in
specific practice areas and/or to expand their
skills and experience in a variety of services
offered to our clients.

Will I receive continued training?
SSB has made a commitment to be a teaching firm.
Not only do we promote continuing professional
education as required by the CPA profession, but
we also provide continued training in-house on a
regular basis. We hold monthly team meetings in
which we provide information on various areas of
our practice. In addition, we stay on top of the
latest technological advances and train our team
extensively in this area. Our entire team also
meets regularly to strengthen our team-building
and personal communication skillsall a plus for
self-improvement and developing good client
relationships.

What type of technology and tools are offered to
help me perform my job?
The most current technology is available to you
to help you perform your job at maximum
efficiency and capacity. Mobile
technologylaptops, portable printers, etc.is
used in fieldwork. Efficient use of technology
cuts time inputting data and allows more time to
be spent on analytical workthe work our clients
need and appreciate.
