Application Process

• - Finalize resume and personal essay (make sure
  they are proofread)
• - Register to take or re-take the ACT
  (www.actstudent.org)
• - Ask for 1-2 letters of recommendation (make
  sure to give that person a copy of your resume)

Application Process

• Print out Counselor Form
• Fill out Transcript Release Form
• Available in Guidance Office
• 1st college free, 3 each additional college

Complete Application

• Bring Counselor Form, Transcript Release Form,
  application fee (if not already paid online), and
  letter(s) of recommendation to Mrs. Vahl!
• December 15, 2009 is the STM deadline for all
  applications

UW-System

• Starts processing applications on September 15,
  2009
• Fee is 44 for each application
• Shoot for priority deadlines
• Be aware of housing applications as well they
  go FAST!

UW-System

• Guarantee Transfer Program
• Complete the first 2 years of college at
  UW-Waukesha, maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, and
  youre guaranteed admission to any UW-System
  school for your final 2 years
• Exception is UW-Madison where a 2.6 GPA is
  required

Wisconsin Private Schools

• Majority of applications are free or fee waivers
  available
• Tuition is not always as expensive as you think
  (inside cover of booklet)

The ACT

• Testing dates still available
• October 24th (register by September 18th)
• December 12th (register by Nov 6th not at STM)
• Some colleges require scores sent directly from
  ACT

College Visits

• Some colleges visit at STM during lunch periods
  check the calendar and newsletter for dates
• We recommend students visit the college of their
  choice before applying visits are the 1
  determinant for college selection
• Call any institutions admissions office to
  schedule a personal campus tour

FAFSA

• The completed FAFSA form may not be signed or
  mailed prior to January 1, 2010 - Taxes need to
  be estimated, so plan to do this early
• There will be a College Financial Aid meeting on
  January 6, 2009 at 600p.m. in the STM library

• Free money is out there!
• Check the Scholarship section of the STM website
  or the Guidance office for continuous updates for
  individual and private scholarships
