PDF Forms Designer
Introduction The basic premise of the project is
to create a tool, written in 100 Java, that
allows the user to graphical graphically add form
fields to new and existing PDF documents, using a
drag-and-drop mechanism. The tool will also cater
for the possibility for the user to add free
text, images, annotations (such as notes, and
Hyperlinks) and JavaScript.
JavaScript One of the newest and most exciting
features of the PDF, is the ability to make use
of JavaScript. The PDF Forms Designer provides a
mechanism through which JavaScript may be
embedded in PDF documents, and then activated
when they are viewed.
Completing the PDF Once the user has finished
designing a PDF, they can write it out to file.
iText is an open-source library (available under
the MPL) which allows low level access to new and
existing PDF documents. This library is used to
write out the completed PDF, where it can then be
viewed in applications such as Adobe Acrobat, or
Mac OS Preview.
