How is the course structured?

• Vocational Off-Site course
• One entire day each week
• 2 Option blocks
• Level 2 only
• Worth 4 GCSEs (Grades A to C)
• 100 coursework
• 3 Core units
• 4 Optional units

Restrictions

• Cannot be taken with any other vocational
  off-site course
• Must take single award Science

Whats in the coursework?

• Written descriptions of some of the techniques
  used in the media industry and possible media
  careers
• Written reviews of computer games and other media
  products
• Designs for a range of products
• Creation of media products games, animations,
  web sites

Who is this course for?

• Students who
• Enjoy being creative
• Are interested in a career in media (TV, film,
  radio, animation, computer games design, web
  design, etc.)
• Are confident in using ICT
• Are hard working
• Are punctual and attend regularly

• Students who
• Just want to play games
• Arent prepared to put in the work
• Are only interested in one of the areas covered

What is BTEC Certificate in Media?

• The certificate is more like GCSE Media Studies,
  but much more practical and hands on
• Less of a focus on ICT, but ICT is still a pretty
  big part of the coursework
• 1 Core unit
• 2 Optional units Video production, photographic
  techniques, or others

• NOT an off-site course
• 1 Option block
• Level 2 only
• Worth 2 GCSEs (Grades A to C)

• Cannot be taken with GCSE Media Studies
