• Why its important
• Did you know America is only 4.5 percent of
  the worlds population but we use 25 percent of
  the worlds energy

• What you can do
• Turning of your lights in one class room for one
  hour can keep two pounds of pollutants from the
  environment
• Buy compact florescent bulbs, it costs a little
  more but you use a quarter of the energy a normal
  light bulb uses
• To reduce phantom energy, unplug electronics or
  buy several power strips

Deforestation

• Why its important?
• Deforestation is cutting down forest for paper,
  wood and building towns. Most countries have lost
  more than 75 of their forests.

• What you can do
• Dont waste paper use both sides of paper in
  your notebook.
• Recycle paper it uses more than 1/3 less energy
  to make new paper and you save trees
• Dont litter, its bad for the environment

The Oceans

• Why its important
• The Earth is 70 water. Because Key Biscayne is
  on an island, virtually everything we throw on
  the ground will eventually get to the ocean
  littering our beaches. This leads to injured
  animals and ugly beaches.

• What you can do
• Pick up garbage at your local beach
• Dont waste water, make sure to turn off your
  faucets
• Take shorter showers
