• A response to the ESL Program Review, Fall, 2002
• A need for a different model of staff development
• Based on Teachers Knowledge Project from School
  of International Training (SIT) and collaboration
  with SFUSD
• Facilitated by ESL/TRS Resource Instructor, Maria
  Rosales-Uribe, and ESL Reflective Teaching
  Project Coordinator, Bophany Huot

• Focus Teacher (FT) describes quandary, challenge
  or issue 4 Ws
• Participating Teachers (PTs) probe further using
  clarifying open-ended questions

• FT gives possible underlying assumptions and
  theories
• FT listens to PTs interpretations without
  comments.
• PTs give their theories

Step ThreeIntelligent Actions

• PTs offer all possible intelligent actions that
  incorporate the insights explored.
• FT has the freedom to choose.
• FT will make a commitment to experiment with an
  action and report back at the next meeting.
