The Schools Involved

• Rhyl High School - an English medium 11-18
  comprehensive school with pupils from one of the
  poorest areas in Europe.
• Feeder Primary Schools Ysgol Emmanuel and Ysgol
  Llewelyn.

Last Years Project

• Introduced triple literacy to Year 6 pupils in
  the two feeder primary schools involved in an
  hours lesson.
• Created a glossary of grammatical terms to be
  used in all three subjects.

Project 2006/2007

• Develop grammar terminology
• observation of year 6 grammar lessons
• starter games (dominoes, odd-word out,
  power-point games)
• posters
• an improved, colour-coded glossary of terms
• written activities.

Target Group

• Materials developed will be used by pupils in
  Year 7.
• Posters will be distributed to all of the feeder
  primary schools.

Proposed Success Criteria

• Success in SATS style examinations/ assessments
  at the end of key stages
• Improved entry for GCSE French in Year 9
• Improved performance in class based assessments.
