  • Installation instructions for windows including
    attachment
  • at minimum shall include the following
  • Type, and grade of anchor, and/or manufacturers
    anchor specifications, including minimum nominal
    size, minimum penetration into substrate and
    minimum edge distances.
  • 2. Type, physical dimensions, material and grade
    of any accessory item or strap, if applicable.
  • 3. Spacing of anchors, shims, accessory items and
    straps.
  • 4. Illustrated diagrams of the attachment of the
    product structure

  • When submitting applications using the
    Certification Mark or Listing Method, verify the
    following
  • Manufacturers name on the BCIS matches the name
    on the Certification Agency Certificate.
  • Model size and performance is an exact match with
    uploaded Certification Agency Certificate.
  • Installation Documents are attached.
  • On Limitations of use for each model define use
    within HVHZ or outside HVHZ impact, design
    rating, missile level and any other pertinent
    information.
  • Testing standards and year of standard as
    certified by Certification Agency. If testing
    standards are not adopted in the version of the
    Florida Building Code, an equivalency of
    standards will be required.

    Florida State Product Approval application.

  • Administrative Validation
  • Technical Validation

  • If the installation instructions are as
    Tested/Certified and are verified by the
    Certification Agency, an Administrative
    Validation is used.

    other than certified by the Certification Agency,
    a different application method must be used.

    specify which type of Validation is required and
    for Technical Validation, if it is required on
    the Installation Instructions, Evaluation
    Reports, or both.
  • Also on the Technical Validation checklists, it
    will be specified whether the Installation
    Instructions, Evaluation Reports, or both are
    required to be Technically Validated.

Expiration Date
  • For the Certification Mark or Listing Method, a
    new field is added to collect the Expiration Date
    of the Quality Assurance Entity Contract on Page
    3 of the application.
  • An email is sent to the Manufacturer with a copy
    to DCA when the Expiration Date has passed.
  • Search criteria on the Product Search web page
    allows searching for expired Quality Assurance
    Entity Contracts.

Process (beginning NOW!)
  • No more recommendation for Conditional Approval
    or Deferral.
  • Applicants work at their own pace to complete
    applications by the posted deadline date.
  • Early submittals will have more correction time,
    if needed.
  • Once Validated, Ted Berman and Associates, LLC
    review the application and email the applicant
    notifying them of any discrepancies.
  • Only those applications that are complete are
    recommended for Approval to the Product Oversight
    Committee (POC) and be listed on the meeting
    agenda.

  • 1702 Definitions Permanent label. A label that
    cannot be removed without noticeable damage.
  • 1714.5.2 Exterior windows, siding and patio glass

  • Exterior windows and glass doors shall be tested
    by an approved independent testing laboratory,
    and shall be labeled with an approved label
    identifying the manufacturer, performance
    characteristics and approved product
    certification agency, testing laboratory,
    evaluation entity or Miami-Dade Product Approval
    to indicate compliance with the requirements of
    one of the following specifications
  • ANSI/AAMA/NWWDA 101/I.S.2 or 101/I.S. 2/NAFS or
    AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S. 2/A440 or TAS202 or TAS
    202 (HVHZ shall comply with TAS 202 utilizing
    ASTME E 1300-98 or ASTM E 1300-02 or Section
    2404).

  • 1714.5.2.1.1 Test and labeling of skylights.
  • Exterior skylights shall be tested by an approved
    independent testing laboratory, and shall be
    labeled with an approved permanent label
    identifying the manufacturer, the products
    model/series number, performance characteristics
    and approved product evaluation entity to
    indicate compliance with the requirements of the
    following specification
  • AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS, Voluntary Performance
    Specification for Windows, Skylights and Glass
    Doors, or TAS 202 (HVHZ shall comply with TAS
    202).

  • 1714.5.4.1 Anchoring requirements.
  • Window and door assemblies shall be anchored in
    accordance with the published manufacturers
    recommendations to achieve the design pressure
    specified. Substitute anchoring systems used for
    substrates not specified by the fenestration
    manufacturer shall provide equal or greater
    anchoring performance as demonstrated by accepted
    engineering practice.

  • 1714.5.5.1 Mullions
  • Mullions or mulled fenestration assemblies shall
    be tested by an approved testing laboratory in
    accordance with either AAMA 450, ASTM E330, or
    TAS 202 (HVHZ shall comply with TAS 202), or
    shall be engineered in accordance with AAMA450
    using accepted engineering practice. Mullions
    tested as stand-alone units or qualified by
    engineering shall use performance criteria cited
    in Sections 1714.5.5.2 (load transfer),
    1714.5.5.3 (deflection) and 1714.5.5.4
    (structural safety factor). Mullions qualified by
    an actual test of an entire assembly shall comply
    with Section1714.5.5.4, except that mullions in
    assemblies
  • requiring a deflection limitation, as defined in
    AAMA/WDMA/CSA 101/I.S.2/A440, shall meet
    1714.5.5.2 and 1714.5.5.3. Products not included
    within the scope of Section 1714.5.5.1 shall
    comply with Sections
  • 1714.5.5.3 and 1714.5.5.4.

1714.5.3.3.1 Glazed curtain wall, window wall and
storefront systems shall be tested in accordance
with the requirements of this section and the
requirements of the Architectural Aluminum
Manufacturers Association (AAMA) Standard 501,
HVHZ shall comply with 2411.3.2.1.1.

1609.1.2 Protection of openings. In wind-borne
debris regions, glazing in buildings shall be
impact resistant or protected with an impact
resistant covering meeting the requirements of
SSTD 12, ASTM E 1886 and ASTM E1996, ANSI/DASMA
115 (for garage doors and rolling doors) or
Miami-Dade TAS 201, 202 and 203 or AAMA 506
referenced therein as follows 1. Glazed
openings located within 30 feet (9144 mm)
of grade shall meet the requirements of the Large
Missile Test. 2. Glazed openings located more
than 30 feet (9144 mm) above grade shall meet the
provisions of the Small Missile Test.
