All About Fiction
  • Fiction can be based on a true event but
    is not real.

Realistic Fiction
  • The characters, setting, and plot are made up.
    The events could happen but most likely will not.
    An example is Roxy and the Hooligins. Most of
    the time its about adventures and peoples lives.

Historical Fiction
  • In historical fiction all the characters are made
    up the setting and plot may be based on real
    events. All the dates and details are true to
    history. These stories are usally about war and
    historical events.

Folk/ Fairy Tale
  • In folk/fairy tale the characters, plot, and
    setting are made up. Most of them are myths,
    fables, and legends passed down. It is usually
    about one particular character and sometimes
    explains historical events or wise tales.

Fantasy/Science Fiction
  • In Fantasy the setting does not exist, the
    characters and plot are made up too. The events
    would most likely not happen and the ideas are
    fanciful or futuristic. An example is The City Of
    Ember.

Mystery
  • Mysteries are stories where there is a mystery or
    a problem to solve. The characters, setting, and
    plot are usually made up. When someone reads a
    mystery they get clues and information to try to
    solve the mystery.

Non- Fiction
  • In Non-Fiction the people, setting, events, and
    plot are real. It can be informational and may
    explain something. It can also be about animals,
    plants, and places.

Biography
  • A biography is about a person or setting and the
    events are real. It is about a real person but
    someone else wrote it about the person in the
    book. An example is A Letter To My Grandchildren.

Autobiography
  • An Autobiography is a story about someones life.
    The character in the Autobiography wrote this
    book.
