  • President Johnson (LBJ) successfully was able to
    push this civil rights legislation through
    Congress essentially eliminating literacy tests.
  • This was one of his goals for his Great Society

The Warren Court
  • Headed by Chief Justice Earl Warren

    Wainwright.
