Invention

• Fick invented the contact lens.
• Born September 3rd 1829.
• Died August 21st 1901.
• The contact lens had been around for close to one
  hundred years or more but his was the first to
  stop nearsightness and farsightedness.

• In 1847 he began the study of mathematics and
  physics.
• Later he switched to medicine.

  studying visual errors and astigmatism .

The first contact lens

• The first few that fick invented were first
  tested on animals (rabits)and the contact covered
  the entire eyeball.
• And they were also very heavy and the user
  couldn't wear them for long periods of time .

• In 1851 he introduced ficks laws of diffusion.
• In 1870 he thought up the Fick principal.
