The Class Advance
Happy Holidays!
Language Arts During December we will continue to
practice our writing skills by developing
paragraphs that have clear opening sentences,
details, and an appropriate ending. Our writing
activities will produce a beautifully illustrated
Holiday Surprise! We will read in guided reading
groups throughout the month. In readers
workshop we will read independent selections as
well as various holiday holiday stories. As a
special treat our class will read Twas the
Fright Before Christmas and perform a Readers
Theater to practice oral fluency. We will
include mini costumes for this fun event.
Math Our class just started to study
multiplication and division. We are working in
Unit 4 and the children are enjoying the use of
various centers to explore their favorite
learning styles. At the beginning of the unit
we worked in small groups to problem solve
multiplication and division stories. Toward the
middle of December, Mrs. Sydlowski and Mrs.
Everson will be introducing Unit 5, Place
Value. Please keep practicing math facts and
place value. We will be covering place value to
the millions.
Science This month we will be studying the
forest. We will talk about characteristics,
plants, and animals that are typically found in
the forest. We will then compare and contrast
our findings with those of desert
characteristics, plants, and animals.
