  • The School of Management and Information Systems
    (SMIS) created a mission statement and submitted
    it to both faculty and advisory board for
    approval.
  • The mission statement is reviewed every five
    years by the SMIS executive committee, or more
    frequently if someone suggests a major change.
    It is again submitted to the advisory board and
    faculty for approval.
  • The mission statement is not five years old as
    yet, so it has not been reviewed.

  • SMIS is governed by an executive committee that
    consists of the dean, associate deans, three
    department chairs, and directors of departments.
  • The executive committee meets at least biweekly
    to share information, discuss issues, and make
    decisions.
  • Each department chair, associate dean, and
    director meets biweekly with the dean to discuss
    performance and issues.

    Local laws
  • Monitors own design and implementation along with
    contractor work
  • Monitored by The Department of Natural Resources
    (DNR) and the system design office
  • Designs buildings and projects to adhere to
    current codes
  • Adheres to all Federal regulations on
    environmental issues and Americans Disability
    Act, (ADA)
  • Standing notice on needs for accessibility to our
    facilities
  • Strives to ensure buildings are pleasant for all
    faculty, staff and students
  • Licenses are retested annually in order to stay
    current with the new laws.
