The Presence of Angels

II. A biblical basis for the presence of angels
here now
2. (Heb. 113-14) But to which of the angels has
He ever said "Sit at My right hand, Till I make
Your enemies Your footstool"? Are they not all
ministering spirits sent forth to minister for
those who will inherit salvation?
1. (John 150-51) Jesus answered and said to
him, "Because I said to you, "I saw you under the
fig tree," do you believe? You will see greater
things than these." And He said to him, "Most
assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see
heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and
descending upon the Son of Man."

(Rev. 228) Now I, John, saw and heard these
things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to
worship before the feet of the angel who showed
me these things.

a. They deliver divine revelations to Man.
b. They strengthen in the hour of trial.
(Luke 2241-43) And He was withdrawn from them
about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and
prayed, saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take
this cup away from Me nevertheless not My will,
but Yours, be done. Then an angel appeared to
Him from heaven, strengthening Him.
(Acts 2723-24) "For there stood by me this night
an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I
serve, "saying, "Do not be afraid, Paul you must
be brought before Caesar and indeed God has
granted you all those who sail with you."

c. They guard and protect.
(Ps. 919-12) Because you have made the LORD, who
is my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling
place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any
plague come near your dwelling for He shall
give His angels charge over you, to keep you in
all your ways. In their hands they shall bear
you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
(Ps. 347) The angel of the LORD encamps all
around those who fear Him, And delivers them.

(Acts 517-21) Then the high priest rose up, and
all those who were with him (which is the sect of
the Sadducees), and they were filled with
indignation, and laid their hands on the apostles
and put them in the common prison. But at night
an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and
brought them out, and said, "Go, stand in the
temple and speak to the people all the words of
this life. And when they heard that, they
entered the temple early in the morning and
taught. But the high priest and those with him
came and called the council together, with all
the elders of the children of Israel, and sent to
the prison to have them brought.
(Acts 127) Now behold, an angel of the Lord
stood by him, and a light shone in the prison
and he struck Peter on the side and raised him
up, saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell
off his hands.

came and licked his sores. "So it was that the
beggar died, and was carried by the angels to
Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died and was
buried.

will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who
repents than over ninety-nine just persons who
need no repentance "Likewise, I say to you,
there is joy in the presence of the angels of God
over one sinner who repents."

IV. Our relationship with angels
1. We should be aware of angels in our daily
lives.
(Heb. 132) Do not forget to entertain strangers,
for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained
angels.
(Ps. 347) The angel of the LORD encamps all
around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
17
2. We are cautioned not to worship angels.
(Col. 218-19) Let no one cheat you of your
reward, taking delight in false humility and
worship of angels, intruding into those things
which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his
fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head,
from whom all the body, nourished and knit
together by joints and ligaments, grows with the
increase that is from God.
3. We are warned about receiving false
doctrine from angels.
(Gal. 18) But even if we, or an angel from
heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what
we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
