Background, Motivation and Objectives
  • Idea popped up while working on the OAM
    Configuration documents
  • SDH and OTN TCM and non-intrusive monitoring
requires OAM parameters that are specific to
    certain intermediate nodes
  • Might be useful for WSON too?
  • LSP Attributes (RFC5420) primarily deals with
attributes that are relevant to the whole LSP
  • Currently, it is not possible to declare and
signal attributes to a specific intermediate hop
    of the LSP
  • We propose to add this capability to RSVP-TE

3
Proposal
  • There are two straightforward options
  • Define a new HOP_ATTRIBUTES TLV in the
    LSP_REQUIRED_ATTRIBUTES Object, where sub-TLVs
would identify hops with a similar format as in
    the ERO
  • Introduce a new HOP_ATTRIBUTES sub-object in
the ERO to carry the attributes of the associated
    hop specified in the ERO

4
Next Steps
  • Solicit feedback and comments from the WG
  • Other use-cases besides the configuration of TCM
    and non-intrusive monitoring?
  • Is a new HOP_ATTRIBUTES sub-object in the ERO a
good location for this type of info?
