The Israeli- Palestinian Conflict- the Fifty
Years War
The Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip are
oppressed by the Israeli forces and are in
desperate need of supplies. Since the separate
Lebanese-Israeli Conflict, in which the U.S
backed Israel, it is seen by the Palestinians
that the U.S supports the Israelis in their
conflict.
The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict has been raging
for more than fifty years. There is no single
cause of the conflict, but the main reasons are
religious/territorial. Currently, Israeli forces
are occupying the Gaza Strip, an area of the
Middle East with disputed ownership.

Israel controls the Gaza strip's airspace and
offshore access. The Strip itself and its
population is under the jurisdiction of the
Palestinian Authority which also operates the
Strip's Rafah border crossing into Egypt under
European Union supervision. The crossing has been
closed due to Israeli demands since June 2006,
after Israel recaptured parts of the Strip.
The Palestinians currently under Israeli
oppression are in desperate need of aid- in most
of the main towns and cities in the Strip, the
Palestinians are exposed to very strict curfews,
indiscriminate killing, and relentless shelling.
In response, the Palestinians retaliate with
suicide bombings, and militia assaults on Israeli
emplacements, making the whole area a potentially
lethal battleground.

Many organisations like UNICEF and the Human
Rights Watch are trying to give aid to the
oppressed civilians of Palestine, but this is
proving extremely difficult due to the very
anti-Western attitude caused by the Lebanon
conflict and its U.S./Israeli backing.
Also, to make things more difficult for aid
workers in the Middle-East, the whole
Israel-Palestine area is volatile and is very
war-stricken- just one look at the news to see
the daily carnage occurring there.

Like most conflicts in the world, this one is
based on a perversion of a religion. The majority
of combatants in the Israel-Palestine war are
followers of Islam and Allah, and they have bent
the meaning of their holy book, the Quaran, to
justify their cause. Both factions are guilty of
