Introduction

• Booker. T . Washington was born on April5, 1856.
  In Hales Ford, Virginia.

Background

• Booker. T . Washington was very poor, he had to
  travel on foot.
• He had to get up at 400a.m in the morning to
  work at a salt mine so he could attend school
  later that day.
• The principal would not let him into school until
  he cleaned a room to her satisfaction.

Accomplishments

• He was a teacher at a college of Hampton
  Institute.
• On September 22, 1862 Lincoln issued The
  Emancipation Proclamation, but of course it could
  not be enforced until the of the Civil War in
  1865.

Obstacles

• His hardest time was when he was working in the
  mines because he had to wake up at 400 in the
  morning until night.

Tributes

• He won a 600,000 dollar award because he
  sacrificed many things to get what he wanted,
  which was to became the first black male educator
  and to have freedom.

Conclusions

• He died in 1915 his age was 59 years old.
• He changed peoples opinions for black people.
• He also was an educator at a college.
