• 1957 - Use of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tape
  to insulate wire
• 1958 - MULTI-TET insulated wire and cable
  becomes the first product
• 1958 - On January 1, Bill and Vieve Gore begin
  the enterprise in the basement of their home
• 1969 - The first PTFE product to be
  commercialized
• 1972 - GORE-TEX fiber is first manufactured.
• 1974 - GORE-TEX products in Japan.

• 1979 - GORE-SEAM tape is introduced
• 1989 - The GORE-TEX fabric "Guaranteed to keep
  you dry warranty is introduced.
• 1991 - Windproof, breathable WINDSTOPPER fabric
  is introduced.
