When a person misses church we say they are
backsliding. In reality, missing church is only a
symptom of being backslidden. Backsliding is
actually walking away from God and the path He
desires for you. Many times we say a person is
backsliding when they stop coming to church, but
in reality they are not backsliding because they
cannot backslide from a place where they have
never been. They have never been truly saved.

If you have ever been closer to the Lord than you
are right now, then you are backslidden!

• ITS CAUSES
• Superficial Faith (Luke 813)
• An Absence of Spiritual Leadership (Exodus 321)
• Not following the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
• Not following the leadership of the pastor.
• The Love of the World (2 Timothy 49-10)
• Choosing the world over the Lord and His Church.
• You cant serve God and the World (Matthew 624).
  
• Associating With the Wrong Crowd (1 Kn.114,9)

• ITS CONSEQUENCES
• It Angers God (1 Kings 119-10 Luke962)
• It Brings Correction And Reproof (Jer. 219-20)
• It Brings Judgment (Jeremiah 156)

• ITS CURES
• Know For Sure You Are Saved (1 John 513)
• Trust in God to Hear Your Prayer of Repentance
  (1 John 19)
• He knows we are, by nature, bent to backslide
  (Hosea 117).
• This is confirmed by Isaiah (Isaiah 536).
• He still loves us and will heal us from
  backsliding if we will turn to Him (Hosea 144).
• Put Yourself In the Center of His Will
• Commit Yourself to Him
