ITC Members Personal Projects

• Each ITC member is required to propose, commit
  to, and complete an approved personal project.
• Submit an idea to Chair Vice Chair for approval
• Examples might be
• Write a white paper on a topic of program
  significance
• Write an article for publication in Right of
  Way or other technical journal
• Prepare a presentation on a ROW-related issue or
  topic
• Present or co-present a session at a national or
  regional conference, etc.
• Coordinate presence of IRWA with an exhibit at a
  conference
• Chairing or co-chairing a symposium or conference

  Conference or PRES

proposed project. If more that one ITC member
will be involved, briefly explain the nature of
each persons role in the project.

• Description of Project Output and Delivery Date
• Explain what the final product will be (i.e.,
  article, presentation, report, etc.) and include
  a projected completion date (ex. June 08).
• The completion date should be prior to June
  19, 2008-(Opening of the 2008 Annual Education
  Conference in Austin, Texas)
• Extensions beyond the June 08 date may be
  authorized on an individual basis, depending on
  the scope and nature of your proposed project.

Chapter Transportation Chairs E-Mail Group -
Outreach

• First E-mail Outreach contact (volume 1,
  Number 1) from ITC sent January 18th , 2006
  generated interest and positive comments. We
  are creating up-to-date contacts for our chapter
  and community of interest database.
• The 1st broadcast included basic committee
  information (mission, current committee roster
  and minutes from our Anaheim committee meeting),
  and an invitation to communicate with us on a
  variety of topics.

• Goal 1 Develop session topics that involve
  international or bi-lateral issues for the 2008
  Annual Conference in Austin

Measure of Success At least 6 of the approved
ITC sessions for Austin will have content that
has application for Canadian and other members.
There are two standing sessions, the Federal
Agency Update and AASHTO Update, and even
those probably have some relevance for right of
way professionals from Canada, South Africa,
Australia Japan, Korea and others. These sessions
may be partnered with other committees.

  Annual Conference in Austin that deal with issues
  in several transportation modes (not just
  highways), as well as at least 1 session on
  communications/negotiations.

Measure of Success At least 7 of our proposed
ITC sessions for Austin have multi-modal or
communication/negotiation applications.

• Measure of Success
• All ITC members have a voice in developing
  Session Topics and we were successful in getting
  8 ITC sessions approved for Sacramento.
• The ITC is continuing to develop our current list
  of Chapter Transportation Chairs. Our first
  e-mail broadcast to the Chapter Chairs went out
  in early 2006. This is planned to be a large
  part of our outreach efforts following
  sub-committee re-structuring.

• Measure of Success
• The ITC, Asset Management , Local Public Agency
  and Survey Committees have established and
  continue to build on a partnership in sponsoring
  sessions at the Annual Conference.
• The ITC is looking for other ways to partner with
  the Utilities, Relocation and other
  International Committees. We have taken the lead
  and will try to enlist four International
  Committees as co-sponsors of educational sessions
  for Austin.

• The ITC will again sponsor a display booth and
  promotion of the Association at the 2007
  Mid-South Right of Way Conference in New Orleans,
  LA. Attendance 80
• The ITC will again try to participate in the
  Northwest Right of Way Conference in 2007 by
  providing a welcome message, magazine, SR/WA and
  specialty designation information, and membership
  application in each registrants conference
  packet. Attendance 150

Measure of Success (G) Our Region 4 ITC Rep
will also be asked annually to staff an IRWA
information booth in the exhibit area at the
Mid-Atlantic Workshop. This annual event was
attended by over 300 ROW professionals in 2006
most of whom are not currently IRWA members. We
plan to participate again in 2007 and beyond.
This is an excellent outreach opportunity and we
suggest that IRWA develop a strategy for having a
presence at similar Annual ROW Workshops across
the country.

Measure of Success (H) The ITC participated
with Chapter 77 with an IRWA booth at the
Tallahassee, Florida Board of Realtors Annual
EXPO in 2007. 99 of the attendees were unaware
of IRWA. This will also be a focus for
2008. (I) The annual ASSHTO event was attended by
over 300 ROW professionals. In Florida in 2007
and the ITC recommends that IRWA develop a
strategy for having a presence at similar Annual
ROW Events across the country.

  WAY magazine within the next twelve months.

Measure of Success Articles submitted for
publication by ITC members Billy Medley, SR/WA
and Terrel Heather, and proposed articles for
2007-2008 are included in the listing of
personal projects. Additionally several other
members have committed to authoring articles this
year .

2. Our Personal Project Initiative On the
positive side. The Personal Projects can
contribute significantly to the ITCs goals and
mission, and to the Association as a whole.
They give each ITC member an opportunity to
contribute, and also gives them a chance to pick
the project. We have some very worthwhile
projects underway.

committed to do a project . . . Or have
proposed a project but not followed through on
their commitment. We need follow through by
our members

We need to work on improving our 2-way
communications, developing more active
participation and getting effective feedback on
our performance. This applies within the
ITC between the ITC and other Committees between
the Committees and the Regions... between the
Committees and the IEC

• Our Chapter Chairs E-mail Group was just
  starting to take off response was good! However
  this effort needs work with communication
  sub-committee
• Difficult to measure the value of our presence
  at national and regional ROW events

  effective implementation.
