• Pharohs were in charge of all of Egypt.
• They taught people how to farm and to plant
  seeds.

The River Nile

• The River Nile was very important because it
  flooded every year and left behind black silt
  which was good for growing crops
• You could travel on it
• Papyrus grew on it and they made paper and boats.
• They could fish in it
• Gave them water to drink

The Farming Year

• In the growing season the farmer would-
• Prepare the land
• Plough
• Sow seeds use cattle to trample them into the
  soil
• Irrigate crops with their canals and shadufs

• In the harvest season the farmer would-
• Cut down the crops
• Gather them together
• Count and store

• In the flooding season the farmer would-
• Repair tools, houses etc
• Do work for the pharaoh

Scribes

• Scribes were the people that taught the
  children how to write
• It was hard work being a scribe because there
  were 700 letters in the alphabet.

writing on the walls of the temples and tombs
then a stone.
