Artist Statement
  • If someone was to view the work Ive
created over the years they may not consider it
    much of
  • anything. That is, nothing more than a few pretty
    pictures and attractive paintings. However,
  • if that person was to look harder they might see
what I see, think how I think, live how I live,
    and
  • discover the true meanings of my work. Each
picture tells a story, my story. It is said that
    a
  • picture can say a thousand words, well mine can
    tell a whole story.
  • In my work I love to design and to use
classic pieces, they may not make you think, but
    they
  • are beautiful and can bring a person to a
setting. I do not dont have a lot of experience,
    so I go by
  • how I feel when it comes to art. My designs often
reflect my mood at the time, if I am excited or
  • feeling alive I use a lot of bright colors and
vivid styles. If my mood is more pensive I
    typically use
  • more grays, blacks, and blues. In all of my work
I am never just thinking about what looks right,
  • but what feels right. When I create there is
never just a picture in my mind, but a whole
  • adventure. The smells, the music, the colors- all
of the elements that arent even shown are all in
  • my mind as I form the piece. My method of
selecting materials and different mediums lies
    simply
  • in how I feel it will fit my purpose.
Unfortunately, my art lies so heavily upon
    emotions that at
  • times I cannot even sketch because I dont feel
like it. However, I am becoming better at
  • controlling my emotions and how they affect my
    work.
  • I never took an art class until my
sophomore year, ever since then I have been
    experimenting
  • and growing in my art abilities. I am always a
little uneasy trying a new medium, but I whenever
  • I have finished I find that I had a lot of fun
with experimenting and that with each new medium
    I

Shoe Advertisement
  • I used a pencil and
  • strictly black and white
  • shading. As of now it has
  • no title other than The
  • Highlights Shoe Advertise-
  • ment I used one of my
  • favorite pairs of shoes as a
  • model to reveal more of my
  • personality to the viewer
  • other than just an ad.

5
Elongated Self Portrait
  • Titled Witchful Thinking
  • I used pastels when I
  • created this self-portrait.
  • I came up with my design
  • after selecting a color
  • scheme. I do not necess-
  • arily view myself as a
  • witch, but this reflects
  • a more colorful and fun
  • side of me.

6
Calendar Art
  • This was my first piece I had ever used ink wash
  • Not officially titled temporarily called June
  • Entered and accepted into MCHS Art Calendar

7
Chalking Project
  • I designed and chalked a designated square in
downtown Raleigh for the chalking festival
  • The theme for the 2006 Festival was Celebrate
    Raleigh Urban Renaissance
  • A very time consuming project
  • I used color to portray a sense of movement and
    energy at night
  • My favorite part of the whole design is the
    lighting against the night
