subject pronouns (also called personal pronouns)

The pronoun usted and ustedes are often
abbreviated in texts. Ud. and Uds.

• Use Ud. (formal or polite form) to address people
  who are older than you.
• Use Tú (familiar) to address people who are your
  own age or younger than you.
• Use Uds. (plural) to address people more than
  one. Whenever you want to say you all or all of
  you.
