Communications and Lab
  • Bring text books and copies of assignments to
    labs
  • You must know your engr account login name and
    password to use computers in BAT 045. Get this
    done before your first lab!
  • All assignments will be submitted electronically.
    You will go over the submission process during
    the first lab session.

Overall Course Objective
  • Teach systematic approaches for solving
    engineering problems using computers
  • Numerical and graphical analyses
  • Engineering analyses and tools such as flow
    charting
  • Introductory computer programming
  • Use of engineering software

Course Materials
  • Core material will be covered in readings,
    lectures and/or laboratory sessions
  • All assigned reading materials and any material
    discussed in lectures and laboratories may be
    included in lab assignments and exams.
  • Understanding of material will be tested through
    lab assignments and exams.

Exams
  • 4 exams (worth 50 points each) are scheduled
    throughout the quarter
  • Exams 1 - 3 will be given in class Exam 4
    will be given at during finals week.
  • Exams are 50 minutes long.
  • Exams are closed-book and closed-note
  • All assigned readings and lecture materials up to
    the day of the exam
  • Make-up exams will not be given without prior
    arrangement

Homework Assignments
  • 8 lab assignments are scheduled
  • Grades are assigned based on correctness and
    completeness of solutions
  • You may drop the lowest lab assignment score.
  • Each lab assignment is worth 25 points
  • All assignments must be submitted electronically
  • Late assignments will not be accepted without
    prior arrangements
  • Corrections/questions on grades must be brought
    to the attention of the instructor or grader
    within one week of the work being returned or
    graded

  • Exams 200 points
  • Lab assignments 175 points

Grading Scale
  • 90 - 100 A-, A (to earn an A you must have an
    overall average gt94)
  • 80 - 89 B-, B, B
  • 70 - 79 C-, C, C
  • 60 - 69 D-, D, D
  • 0 - 59 F

    materials, and lab assignments, see either the
    instructor or any of the teaching assistants.

    graded the assignment first. For unresolved
