Dear Pastor, Im single having never been
married I really believe some couples
elderly people dont realize the hurt grief
they inflict upon us. I often get Whats a
sweet girl like you doing single? God has
just the right man for you somewhere Whats
wrong with you? Whats wrong with the guys in
this world? When are you going to get
married? Maybe your standards are too
high. I prayed for my husband, all you have to
do is pray. Why cant people be more
sensitive? Everything seems to be geared to
couples in our world, even our churches. I know
there are advantages to being single, but if one
more person tells me how cheap it is to live
single, I think Ill scream. They dont realize
that we who are single have just as many bills
as those who have husband, wife or family. And
its because of attitudes of people like this,
not because of how we feel about being single,
that our lifestyle is so difficult.

Pastor, There have been many compensations
for being single. How many husbands would have
put up with the many midnight, one, two or three
oclock in the morning phone calls Ive received
from my hurting friends? Many times Ive even
gotten dressed gone out in the middle of the
night for cup of coffee with a girlfriend whos
really hurting. Im so glad that God has used me
in this small way. I place a high premium on my
availability to other people. There are many
verses that give me encouragement every day. A
special one is Romans 832 He that spared
not His Own Son, but delivered Him up for us all,
how shall He not with Him also, freely give us
all things? Right now His freely giving me all
things doesnt include a husband. How dare I
believe that God has made a mistake in His plan
for my life. P.S. Please tell all the
married people not to anticipate the will of
God for their single friends by their compulsive
need to match-make.
